FENEK / Octava Defence
Overview
FENEK, made by Octava Defence, is a network of small microphone masts. Each mast hears a drone or missile and works out the direction of the sound; several masts together fix its position, course and speed on a map. Because the system only listens, enemy electronic sensors cannot find it, and it hears fibre-optic drones that radio detectors miss. The maker gives detection ranges of up to 3 km for Shahed-type drones and up to 5 km for cruise missiles. FENEK is codified for use by Ukraine’s armed forces and entered in the NATO Master Catalogue of References for Logistics.
